Trial Lawyer
Tim Morris
Tim is an experienced trial attorney and has been practicing in Harnett County for over 29 years. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from East Carolina University and graduated Cum Laude from Campbell Law School. He is passionate about what he does and has the knowledge and experience to help his clients solve their most challenging legal problems. Tim handles a variety of different cases, from traffic tickets to first-degree capital murder cases. He is the only Board-Certified State Specialist in Criminal Law in Harnett County. Tim grew up in Erwin, graduated from Erwin High School and decided to come back to Erwin and set up his practice. He is active in his community: at First Baptist Church Erwin, as a 32nd degree mason, and as a member of the Lion’s Club. Tim spends his spare time playing in his band and working for his non-profit Rockism for Autism organization.

Vernon Stewart
Vernon graduated from Campbell Law School in 1986. He then worked in private practice in Dunn for 25 years. He is a former elected District Attorney for Harnett and Lee Counties. He served as District Attorney for ten years. Vernon brings to every legal matter an extreme amount of experience and knowledge. His focus is general practice with an emphasis on family law, criminal law, and trial work. He is a certified family financial mediator and certified Superior Court mediator. He grew up in Erwin and has focused his years of practice on serving the people of Harnett County. Vernon is active in his community and has a heart for his fellow man and is a fierce fighter for his clients.

Jason Duke
Jason is a respected trial attorney who zealously advocates for his clients. He has earned that respect in military courtrooms and now in state court. He has experience trying personal injury matters, defending clients against lawsuits, and defending clients on criminal misdemeanor, felony, and capital charges. Jason has a reputation as a well-prepared, hard-nose litigator. When not advocating for his clients, he enjoys spending time with his family, volunteering with local youth sports and attends First Baptist Church Erwin. He also proudly continues to serve with the Marine Corps as a Reservist.

Karen Lamm
Karen handles the day-to-day operations of Morris Duke Stewart PA and is the backbone of the office, handling the administrative and management duties of the firm. She is a NC State Bar Certified Paralegal and possesses over 20 years of experience. She has extensive knowledge and skills in areas such as personal injury, wills, estates, and felony criminal matters. Karen grew up in Erwin and takes pride in her community. She believes in giving back to her community and is an active member of Sansom Community Church. Karen loves spending time with her family.

Katelyn Armstrong
Katelyn is a graduate of Meredith College with a BA in Sociology and Criminology. She worked with the Public Defender’s Office in Wake County before joining Morris Duke Stewart PA. A gifted organizer, with a strong professional ethic, Katelyn works on legal matters that run the gamut from wills and estate planning, to helping prepare for 1st degree murder trials. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her two boys and husband.

Valeria Montañez Mendez
Valeria brings to Morris Duke Stewart PA a dedication and love for helping people. As a legal assistant, she prepares paperwork and processes legal documents. In addition, she is responsible for scheduling appointments and communicating with clients. Valeria is fluent in Spanish and serves as an interpreter for our firm which helps us connect and serve all members of the community. Valeria is very dedicated to her church and family. She and her husband spend a lot of time volunteering with their church in the community.
